Well, we made it through September (Self-Improvement Month) and now we all deserve a treat. Self-Improvement is hard work, right? A little rest and relaxation, and perhaps a soothing mud pack facial! Just in time, too, as today is National Mud Pack Day! 😉
Personally, I prefer a simple homemade facial mask: mashed banana, plain yogurt, and honey. The honey has anti-bacterial properties and the banana makes your skin soft and smooth. The yogurt helps to tighten pores and also just makes the mask creamier and easier to apply. The best thing about this mask is that you know it is 100% natural and it tastes great, too! Pairs well with my Green Smoothie.
Here’s the basic recipe I use:
1/4 mashed banana (I ate the rest for breakfast!)
1 tablespoon plain yogurt or kefir
2 teaspoons honey
Stir well in a small bowl. Apply to dry skin and allow to dry on your face for twenty minutes or so, remove gently with a warm wash cloth. Voila! It’s magic!
There’s not much more to say, as I drift off into a restful state of relaxation… except that we should take a moment today to recognize how important it is to treat ourselves well. There are many ways you can nurture yourself without spending loads of money, too. You can have just as a relaxing experience at home as you can at a luxury spa. If mud packs aren’t your thing, try something else. Just make sure to set up a time and space for yourself where you will be undisturbed. I am a huge fan of personal rituals, especially if it involves some self-pampering. Light some candles, burn some incense, use your essential oils, dim the lights, play some gentle relaxing music… Use your creativity to help you set the stage for yourself. You are the expert on what you like, so use that knowledge and seduce yourself into a state of bliss and contentment. Who cares if you look like an alien from another planet? Not me!
Enjoy, and see you in October!
